Bank robber Willie Sutton famously quipped that he robbed banks because thats where the money is. In Payday 2, Suttons mantra is taken to the extreme and expanded to include stores, malls, art galleries and much more.Patience and timing are rewarded, but if things go sideways its still possible to get away with the loot if you dont mind mowing down scores of police officers in the process.
Such is the cartoonish premise of Payday 2, in which gamers can assemble a four-person crew and try to knock over banks and other juicy targets with either the skillful precision of a scalpel or the blunt force of a hammer. Most missions underscore careful planning and precision teamwork in order to get in and out either undetected or without activating a police response.
Sounds great, but Payday 2 doesnt do a great job in explaining game mechanics like Visibility or Suspicion, so a lot of times youll set off alarms just by walking in the front door or if you brush up against someone.Finding the best ways to get in and out of a heist either without alerting the authorities or before they arrive is tantalizing and yet seemingly impossible to effect without a bit of luck, intense planning and rigid team play.
The four classes in Payday 2 are all suited to specific needs in the jobs: Masterminds control the crowds, Enforcers fend off the police, Tacticians deploy gear to make life easier and Ghosts specialize in stealth. When everyone does their job properly, Im guessing its easy to fill your loot bags and get back to the van without issue. But all too often a camera will magically identify you as a threat or someone will hit the alarm and youll find yourself having to fight your way out.
The police response starts slow, and having some civilians as hostages helps mitigate their progress. But no matter how you play it out, its gonna end in either you being gunned down and put in custody or you shooting upwards of a hundred people to escape.
Ive got no qualms with the body count in shooter games like this when properly presented. But when a small-time heist at a jewelry store turns into the wholesale massacre of dozens of police officers, the games authenticity takes a pretty serious hit.If you can get past this hyperbole and focus on the skills and tasks at hand, the game is satisfying, even if some skills take forever to enact and twice as long to earn.
Watching and repairing drills seems to be a primary focus of early stages of the game. That may be true in real world robberies, but staring at progress bars wont fill the sails of many gamers. The Crime.net interface makes it easy to find new scores and to even drop in as a guest in the crews of other players across the world thanks to the magic of Xbox Live.
The AI behind the masks of the players not controlled by humans seems content to constantly run out into hordes of police to die, so its definitely better to play with people.Visually, the game does a great job at presenting believable places that you intend to loot. Banks look like banks, malls have all the trimmings. But serious graphical hiccups like guns coming through walls, lighting that makes it impossible to see whats happening and serious frame-rate stutters hamstring the action.
She loves the black skirt/dress. Skress? Loves the white skull prints, the simple yellow flip-flops and the blond extensions askew. The flip-flops even make the cut for her appearance at the show later that night, along with a fistful of necklaces.
Johnson, who turns 71 Aug. 10, started the label in 1978, building a brand that always winked at youthful rebellion, the octane of punk and rock-n-roll and the frill of femininity. By 2004, the label broadened as a lifestyle brand including handbags and luggage, footwear, bridal, kids, jewelry, eyewear and fragrances. Today, her collection can be found in more than 2,000 specialty boutiques along with wholesale ventures.
Johnson's personality - she is known for doing a cartwheel and/or a split at the end of her runway shows - has also inspired a reality show, "XOX Betsey Johnson," on the Style Network. Of course, she has been approached before but didn't want the intrusion of 24/7 cameras. Johnson finally relented, deciding to try it with her co-star and daughter, Lulu Johnson, who also has an eponymous label. This carbon fiber and stainless steel jewelry supplies works for both a fashion. The show debuted in May.This handsome link tungsten bracelet for men is constructed in maintenance-free tungsten.
"Ya know, I didn't think I would ever get used to the camera's being around all the time, but after a while, in some weird way, you forget they are there," she says. "We were pretty open about my bankruptcy and my daughter's divorce. I think fans enjoyed seeing another side of me."
The eight-episode arc, which follows a tumultuous period for Johnson - from her filing for bankruptcy last year and closing her 63 retail stores to building her mother-daughter-relationship to Steve Madden taking over her company, where she is now creative director. The show was thick with Johnson's energy but also chronicles her drive to reinvent herself at an age when others are retiring.
Before we continue, please note that statements made on this call that are not historical facts are forward-looking statements. Actual results might differ materially from the expectations projected in those forward-looking statements. Additional information concerning risk factors that could cause actual results to differ materially is set forth in Tiffany's Form 10-K, 10-Q and 8-K reports filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission. The company undertakes no obligation to update or revise any forward-looking statements to reflect subsequent events or circumstances.
Now let's proceed with a review of Tiffany's performance. Looking at the big picture, these second quarter results were better than our expectations. Three months ago, we had forecast second quarter net earnings would be about equal to last year on mid-single digit sales growth and some lingering margin pressure. So what changed? The 4% total sales growth in the second quarter was in line with our expectation, and I should add that the increase was a stronger 8% on a constant-exchange-rate basis, with solid growth in comparable store sales in all regions outside the Americas. On the upside, however, we were pleased to see a greater-than-expected improvement in gross margin, reflecting both diminishing product cost pressures and the price increases we've taken this year. And SG&A expenses were well controlled. So adding it up,We deal with various stainless steel jewelry and stainless steel rings. the better margin performance helped produce 16% net earnings growth in the quarter, which now leads us to increase our annual earnings guidance. And during the quarter, we launched some exciting product designs, opened 3 new stores and finalized plans for some others, which I'll talk about shortly.
